Q: What is the role of Cphbusiness’ administration and international office?

A: They are only responsible for confirming that the applicants are active students.

Q: Why will there be a deduction of 150 dkk per month from my deposit?

A: We are renovating/painting the rooms due to wear and tear every 2-3 years depending on the duration of the stay of the resident. The longer you stay in the room the likelier it will be to need to be painted after you leave. We are trying to increase the quality and the standard of the rooms and that is why we aim to give a newly painted room for everyone that moves in. So these 150 dkk go to a separate account that will be used to paint the room upon leaving. You will not be required to pay any additional amount if the room's condition is a result of normal circumstances. However, if you make holes in the walls, break a window or a sink or the alike then additional reduction will be made from your deposit to cover these costs.

Q: What do I get when I move in?

A:

○ key for your door (and used for the shared entrance door leading to the room)

○ Smaller key for the letter box

○ ID access card that is used for entering the residence as well as for the washing machines

Q: I have applied for a room but I have not hear anything from the administration for a couple of days now, when will I get a room?

A: Applying for a room does not guarantee you a place at the dorm. We are focusing on providing deserving students with long term accommodation (1.5-2 years). This means that very few rooms are getting vacant each semester. If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks from your application it could mean that the administration does not have any vacant rooms. You are welcome to send a follow up email.

Q: How can I get a room in the Residence hall?

A: You can read more about the process at the Apply section.

Q: When will I get an answer if I have been given a room in the Residence?

A: You will only be contacted by KNord’s administration in case that you have been given a room. It is pointless to contact the CPH administration and the international office and ask them if and when you will get a room.

Q: Is there a waiting list for the Residence?

A: Yes, there is a waiting list which is maintained by the residence administration.

Q: Do I have to pay to apply for a room in the Residence?

A: Currently not.

Q: What is a budget?

A: In order for us to be sure that you can pay your deposit, you rent etc, we require that students enclose a budget for the following year to their application for a room. This means that you have to give us an overview of:

Your (expected) income (salary, savings, contributions from parents, grants etc.)

Your (expected) expenses (rent, food, transportation, clothes etc.)

Q: What is the process of leaving the Residence?

A: You need to inform us at least one month in advance and get approval, otherwise you could be asked to pay/stay in the room for up to 1 month more! This is the process:

  1. You have to write to the administrator of the Residence Thomas Liljendal at thli@admiko.dk. Your email should include your names and room number, the date you expect to leave.
  2. After you have gained the prroval of the administration you have to fill the online form with your bank details which will be used for the return of the deposit.
  3. You need to make an appointment with the Residence Manager and/or the Warden to inspect your room for damages and if it is cleaned, and to return your keys. So make sure to remove all your belongings before the inspection.
  4. Based on predefined checking list with items and locations for cleaning you could be asked to clean missed spots.You might be asked to clean, fix, paint or whatever else is needed.
  5. After the inspection a confirmation is sent to the administration and the deposit will be returned based on the Dorm manager and/or Dorm Warden's feedback about the condition of the room.
Q: When will I get my deposit back after leaving?

A: It takes between one and three months depending on the work load of KNord’s administration.

Q: I did not get a letter for the rent this month, what should I do?

A: You can pay online or at the post/bank with the following information:

Q: Can I give (sublet) the room to a family/friend?

A: This is not allowed, except for extraordinary cases where you go abroad for your internship. You need to inform the dorm manager and the dorm administrator and to get their approval, otherwise you put at jeopardy your stay in the residence.

Q: Can I pay more than one rent at a time?

A: Yes you can transfer rents in advance. It is advised to keep the receipts/screenshots

Q: What is the allowed time for parties and other noisy activities?

A: The allowed times are:

Sunday - Thursday no later than 22:00 o'clock.

Fridays and Saturdays no later than 00:00 o'clock.

If this is not respected you risk getting a general warning.

Q: Is smoking allowed in the rooms?

A: No. The Residence is a nonsmoking area.

Q: I lost my keys and ID card, how much do new ones cost?

A: In case of lost key/ID card:

Key for the room = 300 DKK.

Key for the letter box = 100 DKK.

ID card = 100 DKK.


When making the bank transfer, make sure to note in the message section what you are paying for and your room number.

Q: Can I skip the rent for the last two months of my stay in the Residence and the amount to be reduced from my deposit?

A: No, you can’t skip paying rent. After the first month in which you did not pay the rent, you will get a letter with a notification. If you still don’t pay, you risk losing the room for the last month of your stay. You can also lose your whole deposit.

Q: What can I do if there is a problem in the Residence/my room?

A: It depends on the nature of the problem. If it is administrative then you need to contact the administration of KNord - Liselotte Henriksen or Marie-Luise. If it is of practical matter (something has broken as a result of normal usage, smoke in the rooms, water coming from the ceiling, etc…) then you need to contact the Dorm manager on his email.

Q: Can the Warden or the dorm manager enter my room without permission?

A: Generally, no. However, if the tenant is neglecting the tendency agreement (not paying rent, smoking in the room, using illegal substances, etc...) then actions could be taken for removing the tenant from the room and terminating his/her stay in the residence, without the return of the deposit. They are allowed to enter when something in the room needs to be fixed. E.g. the sink, put blinds, fix electrical sockets etc ...

Q: How do I move into my room?

A: You need to contact the residence manager at least 1 week in advance from the desired move in date and arrange the details at chdu@knord.dk.
